And you know you like to work with food and think it sounds like a great career option. What does it really take to learn the art and craft of food styling? How do you break into the business? Is this a skill you'd like to add to your culinary business?

Learn the essentials of what food styling is all about in Food Styling 101. Veteran food stylist Debbie Wahlwill guide you through an insideršs view of developing a successful styling business. Learn about the job responsibilities, building a tool kit, and creating your own portfolio of work. Find out if this is the career for you!

Each week you'll receive assignments that will deepen your knowledge of this fun, but challenging career. By the end of the class youšll create a collection of your own styled food photographs that will be critiqued by the instructor.

Course concludes with an optional group conference call giving you an opportunity to communicate with fellow students and instructor.

Some comments from former students:

How the Course Works
Food Styling 101 is completely online and we have had students from all over the world taking the class together.

There is no specific schedule for the class. You can read and study the lessons at your own pace, on your own schedule. Sometime during that week you can complete your assignments and upload them to the Class Gallery, which is a site open only to online students and the instructor.

Every Tuesday during the session the instructor emails you a PDF of that week's lesson. It is filled with images and lots of information about Food Styling. You can print it out or read it online. You will also receive extra articles about essential aspect of the profession of food styling.

Weekly assignments are uploaded to our Gallery where you can post your images and commentary. The instructor reviews each student's album of images and adds commentary - and students can view the other students' work and instructor commentary. Working at your own pace, you'll benefit as much as you want from the class.

Course concludes with a Class Meeting giving you an opportunity to communicate with fellow students and instructor. Instructor will review and evaluate your work and that of other students. Ask your instructor questions and discuss the next step of your career. Plus you'll have a chance to meet and network with fellow students. Class Meeting: Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at 12:00 noon Eastern Standard Time.
