Learn about Food Styling and Photography in an exciting interactive venue from leaders in the food photography world! Are you...
• Trying to break into a career in food styling or food photography?
• Are you a photographer who wants to expand into a new market?
• Ready to take your food styling or food photography to the next level?
• Need a career change? Have you always wanted to work in a creative field?

Food stylists and food photographers make magic happen when they produce a food image. They make the simple sublime. They can turn a bowl of chili into a work of art, excite your palate with a picture, tease your taste buds with an image, and heighten all your senses using only your eyes.

Food is glorious and magnificent - full of texture, color, and pattern, but capturing it in an image requires a whole set of unique tools and techniques. As you look through cookbooks and magazines do you wonder how a stylist and photographer actually created the image? What is it about that image that makes your mouth water and your tummy rumble? Where did they find those incredible props? Join us for an exciting weekend workshop in beautiful San Diego and learn from a dynamic professional team with decades of experience in the business. And when you leave the studio for the day, kick back in the heart of San Diego…a walk on the beach, a visit to Gaslamp nightspots, a lot of inspiration, and the glorious southern California autumn weather!

Taught by veteran photo stylist Susan Linnet Cox, food stylist Lisa Golden Schroeder, and food photographer Gregory Bertolini. This two-day interactive workshop features in-depth information about succeeding in the business of food styling and food photography, proven marketing strategies, self-promotion techniques, creating portfolios/websites, and valuable tips on propping. There will be styling demos to give you a an understanding of editorial and commercial food shoots. Insider advice and one-on-one coaching will enrich your styling abilities, prop sensibilities, and actual photographic skills.

"The workshop far exceeded my expectations!! I walked into the weekend with little confidence in my styling skills with the hope that it would help me make a career decision about my next steps, and the message was loud and clear. Go for it!! I walked away with a real sense of self-confidence." - Cindy E., 2008 Attendee

Your Presenters:
• Susan Linnet Cox
has been involved in all areas of photo shoots for over two decades. She has specialized in catalog design and art directing photo shoots, followed by her real love, styling. And having been “the client” as well as the crew, she understands the entire photo shoot as few do. Susan began teaching Weekend Workshops after discovering the joy of mentoring the next generation of photo stylists. She lives in San Diego but has produced, directed, and styled photo shoots throughout the US and internationally. Her book “Photo Styling, How to Build Your Career and Succeed” is published by Allworth Press and covers the field of photo styling in detail. Online courses in photo styling are offered on Susan’s popular site www.photostylingworkshops.com.

• Lisa Golden Schroeder celebrates 26 years this year in the food business, beginning in recipe/food journalism and corporate test kitchens. Learning the art and craft of food styling quickly followed, becoming a focus of her business for over 20 years. Teaching cooking and food styling, along with running www.foodesigns.com, an online resource for food photography professionals, keeps Lisa firmly believing in the importance of mentoring and coaching in this hard to learn business.

• Gregory Bertolini, a New York City Advertising Photographer, holds a BFA in Photography and has over 29 years of experience in food and fashion photography. He also owns and operates Cabin Fever Press, a Publishing House for large format Food and Art Books. Gregory has 4 cookbooks to his credit and has contributed to an additional 35 books. His national advertising clients include Coca-Cola, Anheuser Bush, and Walt Disney. Gregory is starting his third year of teaching workshops. He encourages students to be successful, by being aware of the ever changing trends and tastes in photography and by having a thorough knowledge of the camera and lighting craft. And understanding the art of marketing and business practices that are needed for a successful career. His work can be viewed at www.gregorybertolini.com.
