Photo Styling 101 (Introduction to Photo Styling) 3-week course begins October 21! #46
Photo Styling 101 (Introduction to Photo Styling) 3-week course begins October 21!  You’ve heard about photo styling and know it sounds like an interesting career. But what does a photo stylist really do? What happens during a regular work day? How do you get started?

These questions and many others are explored in Photo Styling 101. Using “Photo Styling, How to Build Your Career and Succeed,” by instructor Susan Linnet Cox, as a guidebook you will find out if this is the career for you. Descriptions of the photo crew, a typical day, and your styling kit are included. You’ll find out what’s required of a stylist and how to build a kit and a portfolio.

Fun and challenging assignments will be presented weekly, ending with a final project: creating a styled image of your own.

Course concludes with an optional group conference call giving you an opportunity to communicate with fellow students and your instructor.

How the Class Works
You will recieve your lessons as PDFs to study on your own schedule at your own pace. Assignments are completed and uploaded to our Gallery for students. There you receive comments and feedback from your instuctor and view the work of other students. We also have a password-protected blog, the Forum, where students of photostylingworkshops.com can network and communicate.

Suggested Materials
This online course is designed to help you learn about photo styling and decide if this career is right for you. No expensive materials need to be purchased at this point in your career (and even when you’re a professional the material investment is pretty small). The following supplies are suggestions to help with this course; not requirements. Naturally, if you are taking an online course you have access to a computer and internet access.
∙ Computer and Internet access
∙ Scanner or digital camera is suggested but alternatively you can use a traditional camera order digital copies.
∙ Basic styling supplies (scissors, tissue paper, fiber fill, batting, window cleaner, etc. A list will be provided in the first lesson.)

Textbook
This course is based on the book, “Photo Styling, How to Build Your Career and Succeed,” by Susan Linnet Cox. There will be reading assignments. The book is an excellent resource for any new or established stylist so it will come in handy throughout your career.

The book is available here on www.photostylingworkshops.com signed by the author for $21.95 (list price) plus shipping. It can be ordered directly from the publisher at www.allworth.com at a discount. You can also purchase it at various online booksellers and at many local bookstores.
