Fashion Style 101
Have you ever wondered how to enter the wonderful world of Fashion Styling?? This six-week thorough introduction to the career is taught by recognized celebrity and fashion stylist, Kim Maxwell, author of "Career Diary of a Fashion Stylist"
In this course students will be able to explore, understand, and walk away with a wealth of knowledge and skills to be able to successfully start a career as a fashion stylist. Activities are directed toward planning your career path, working on a budget, preparing a portfolio, marketing and promotion.
Areas of study include introduction to fashion styling, selection and coordination of clothing and accessories; working on getting wardrobe vendors, learning a stylist/stylist assistant's responsiblities on set and set etiquette, dealing with clients and professionalism, financial management. The final project will be a mock photo shoot, which will result in having photos for your portfolio.
Course concludes with an optional group conference call giving you an opportunity to communicate with fellow students and instructor.

Learn the essentials of what food styling is all about in Food Styling 101. Course is taught by veteran food stylist Lisa Golden Schroeder, founder of Foodesigns.com, an online resource site for food photography professionals, or by Debbie Wahl, professional food stylist and industry leader. The instructor will guide you through an insider¹s view of developing a successful styling business. Using “Photo Styling, How to Build Your Career and Succeed,” by instructor Susan Linnet Cox, as a guidebook you will find out if this is the career for you. Descriptions of the photo crew, a typical day, and your styling kit are included. You’ll find out what’s required of a stylist and how to build a kit and a portfolio.
Fun and challenging assignments will be presented weekly, ending with a final project: creating a styled image of your own.

The producer of a photo shoot is the person in charge of the logistics of a photo shoot. Many find that specializing in providing these needed services makes an exciting career. Photo stylists need production skills to build a successful career. Or an art director or marketing manager may be called on to produce photo shoots. In either case, familiarity with the entire shoot and control of all its aspects are the keys to successful production.
Location scouting, permits, casting talent, hiring the crew, arranging travel and meals, and countless little details make a photo shoot run smoothly. Learn these skills in Producing Photo Shoots and you’ll always be in demand.

Style It & Shoot It
Do you want to set up your own photo shoots to build your styling portfolio? Do you have a creative concept or new product you want to market?
Or your goal may be shooting products for the Web, either on your own site or selling on sites like EBay. A well-lighted quality photo can make the difference.
Until recently, most small business owners would never have entertained the idea of producing their own images of their product for advertising purposes. Easy-to-use digital cameras, image editing software, and basic lighting equipment and techniques have all changed this notion.
And then the items you are photographing may be styled to realistically portray them, show their features, and create an attractive presentation. Case studies with actual online marketers will demonstrate the techniques learned in this practical course.
Co-taught by stylist Susan Linnet Cox and photographer Peter Romfh, this 6-week course is provides you with the basic skills to produce quality images with an understanding of photographic lighting and composition – and without expensive equipment. We'll help you set up a home studio. And you'll learn to style your items, especially soft goods and fabrics in a way that will flatter – and sell - them.
